First attempt at creating my Smithdon magazine front cover.

This is my first attempt at a front cover for my Smithdon High School Magazine. I have experimented with placements of various things, e.g. placement of my mast head, main picture ect...
I have also decided on what fonts to use. I used childish fonts for the Mast head and title because it will attract the eyes of the students. I chose a more formal font for the story snippets because it is a lot more easier to read and school children wouldn't enjoy illegable writing.
This is not the colour scheme i will be following when it comes along to acutally producing my front page. The colours were simple used to seperate the different boxes and show how the writing overlaps my main image. Instead i will use three different colours so not to overcomplicate the front page. Instead i will use bold, simple and noticeable colours, e.g. red and blue, to ensure that it is easily seen and liked by the readers at school.

  1. 'I chose a more formal font for the story snippets because it is a lot more easier to read and school children wouldn't enjoy illegable writing' I don't understand what you mean here Arron. Try avoiding using the term school children and use 'target audience'. Why would your target audience prefer formal font? Research serif and sans serif fonts. This will help with your choices that you make. Start to develop your 'mock-up'. Avoid using colours, and start experimenting with overlaying text and image. Miss Brown.
